A Castle in Chichester!
5 Chichester-based events for the week ahead. Moonlight Walk, Festival of Chichester, Fathers Day Upcoming. All and more in the Chi Weekly
Good Morning, Chichester.
A military bridge was discovered in the recent Priory Park archaeological dig. This bridge would have led to a Norman Castle here in Chichester. It is amazing to think back to what our great city looked like nearly one thousand years ago.

EVENT #1
Festival of Chichester
As one successful Festival of Arts comes to an end (Chichester Fringe), a new one begins! The Festival of Chichester is here. A jam-packed month of creative talent taking place all over the city.
Enjoy performances of classical music, rock and pop. There’s thrilling theatre, guided walks, talks and poetry. There really is something for everyone. With local talent alongside international performers, the 5-week line-up is looking special. Find an event here.
EVENT #2
Dell Quay to Chichester Marina Walk
If you’re like me, at this time of the year I like to be by the coast as much as possible. That is why this week I am including a coastal loop that can make for a great walk. There is an abundance of nature, wildlife and once you reach the marina… boats!
Parking is found on the side of Dell Quay Road, and the figure of eight loop is 6km in length. Alternatively park at Chichester Marina. Either way, you can enjoy a snack at the Boathouse or Crown and Anchor. The link to the full route and guide can be found here.
EVENT #3
Father’s Day at the Weald & Downland Museum
Father Figures go free at the Weald and Downland Museum this coming Sunday. If exploring 50+ rescued rural buildings, spread over a 40-acre estate sounds interesting, this could be the activity to do. Discover how our Anglo-Saxon and Edwardian ancestors lived.
There is also a lovely waterside cafe with a selection of breakfast, brunch and lunch items. Find out more here!
EVENT #4
Where to watch the Euros in Chichester
This one is for the sports fans out there, in particular the football ones. With the European Championships beginning on Friday, all eyes will be on England’s first game next Sunday.
The football will be shown on ITV, but here is a list of pubs with a reputation and atmosphere for international football:
The Old Cross
The Foundry
The Chantry
The Nags Head
@CHIWEEKLY

EVENT #5
St Wilfrid’s Moonlight Walk
Each year hundreds of slightly tired but highly energetic walkers set off in the night, in support of St Wilfrid’s Hospice. A local charity that does so much for our residents in their end-of-life care. Many people know someone who has needed the services of St Wilfrid's, or have a friend who knows someone. So this event is made special by a strong community feel.
If you are looking for a nighttime adventure and in the aid of a great cause. Tickets are still available here.
Have a great week.
Feedback is always appreciated.
